What is the difference between aisle shelves and beam shelves?

When purchasing storage shelves, faced with a dazzling array of storage shelves, are you confused about which shelves to buy? Especially for shelves with little difference in type and different functions, such as corridor shelves, beam shelves, narrow lane shelves and other pallet shelves, while inheriting the advantages of pallet shelves, their applications are also due to their own functional characteristics. The methods are also different.

1. Shelf structure:

Cross-beam shelves are composed of shelf beams and column pieces. The structure is simple and clear. The height of each layer can be freely adjusted by an integer multiple of 75mm. The height of a single shelf column can reach 16 meters.

Corridor-type shelves are composed of column pieces, top pulls, top beams, partitions, double-sided corbels, hanging boards, and single-sided corbels. The structure is relatively complex; the shelf column pieces are connected side by side, resulting in a height of less than 10 rice.

2. Shelf channel:

The beam-type rack aisle is relatively wide and is determined by the size of the goods and the turning radius of the forklift. There is no restriction on the sequence of goods entering and leaving the warehouse.

Corridor-type shelves eliminate the lanes between rows of shelves and merge the shelves together. The aisles are relatively narrow and are determined by the size of the goods and pallets. Goods can only be put in and out of the warehouse first in, last out.

3. Transportation equipment:

There are no special requirements for the forklifts equipped with beam racks, as long as they meet the width of the rack channel and the height of the rack.

The forklifts equipped for corridor-type shelves must be reach-type battery forklifts and counterbalanced battery forklifts.

4. Storage density:

Due to the large forklift aisle, the storage density of beam-type racks is not high, and the space utilization rate is average, which can only reach about 40%.

Corridor-type shelves eliminate the lanes between rows of shelves, so the warehouse utilization rate is more than 30% higher than that of beam-type shelves, and can reach more than 60%. And based on global storage cost calculations, the investment cost can generally be offset by the increased storage capacity within three years.
